Join the team providing a solid foundation for the use of technology at Western University!

WTS is seeking an experienced Systems/Database Administrator. In this role you will be a key member of a skilled team responsible for deploying and supporting the infrastructure used to support technology across campus. You will build and manage hardware infrastructure, virtualization software, multiple database platforms and storage hardware. You will also join the WTS team responsible for research, planning, designing, modifying, integrating and evaluating technologies for use within Western’s central technology infrastructure.   
As the ideal candidate, you will have a College Diploma in an information technology field or a University Degree with at least a minor in Computer Science. You will have five (5) years’ of experience supporting enterprise level servers, storage, and databases; experience with virtualization software and advanced understanding of, network concepts, systems security and administrative procedures in a large production environment; experience using and managing backup software.  Specific technology experience that we are looking for include:
  • Databases (Oracle, MicroSoft SQL Server, MySql);
  • Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Virtual Desktops (VMware Horizon view))
  • Storage (NetApp, Pure, Nexsan, Quantum libraries etc.)
  • Server platforms (UCS, Dell, Oracle)
  • Backup software (Veeam, Networker)

This position is a regular full-time, permanent position within the Professional & Managerial Association at Western University. The salary range for this position is $64,070 - $91,420, depending on the level of experience.
